Question: In general, did you use the dates Steinbeck placed on his correspondence or postmarks? I wonder about each - especially in Alice, it looks like it has had a tiny population for many years (around 120 in 1960) so a postmark may not mean much - it's possible the mail was picked up once or twice a week, or that the postmark was not applied in Alice town line. Thoughts?

Mr. Steigerwald, if you are truly so concerned with the truth, exposing the truth, addressing the marketing of the book as non-fiction, etc.. why do you continually bring up the money? The millions of books sold, the publishers making money, steinbeck staying in nice motels more than he camped (does anyone care?), etc etc.. I'm bring honest - you come off sounding very jealous, and rather than writing your own beloved piece of stretched-truth fiction-non-fiction, you are asking us to buy your book which only exists due to someone else's success. I'm sorry he didn't stop in Pittsburgh, and I'm sorry you weren't blessed by the truths in the book (there are many, such as the nature of people), as millions of us have been over the years. I am not going to financially support you, but I will buy another copy of 'charley' to send to a friend who's starting a journey of her own.
I hope you find happiness in your attack campaign, but I'm not holding my breath.
